Developed by Samuel Thorpe starting in 1924, the Edina neighborhood was unique for its time. For the first time, major utilities were installed before Edina Country Club lots were placed on the market. This along with deed restrictions and the powerful Country Club Neighborhood Association ensured that everything was in its proper place, even trash cans.
Just north of the Edina Country Club, you’ll find Country Club homes for sale in an area that covers a 14-block area east of Minnehaha Creek. The land, originally part of Browndale Farm and Baird Farm, developed between 1924 and 1941 into an Edina neighborhood with a treasure trove of homes founded through calculated community planning.
The Country Club District was added to the National Park Service’s National Register of Historic Places in 1980 and designated as a Heritage Preservation Landmark in 2003. These designations help preserve the Edina neighborhood’s historic revival style homes, including English Tudor, French Provincial and American Colonial Revival.
When looking for Country Club homes for sale, you’ll notice outstanding preservation of historic facades, compared to other historic neighborhoods similarly aged in the Twin Cities. Fewer than 5% of Country Club homes have been torn down or remodeled inconsistently with the homes’ original styles. In addition to preserving their beauty, these Edina neighborhood homes have preserved their values through market ups and downs.
A variety of Edina Country Club membership options will give your family access to a welcoming and easy-going place for making lifetime friends and participating in tried-and-true traditions. As a Platinum Club of America, ranked among the top 150 private clubs in the upper Midwest, Edina Country Club delivers fine services and amenities and high-quality athletic programs. Activities like golf, tennis, swimming and a family-friendly social agenda attract a relatively young membership base to the Edina Country Club.
