Dover
Dover, Minn., is located in southeastern Minnesota between the communities of Eyota and St. Charles. Rochester, the area’s largest city, is only 20 miles to the west. The Whitewater River runs through the valley on the northern edge of the town. Originally developed by settlers seeking rich farmland and timberland, today Dover is known for its small-town community atmosphere.
In Dover, you’ll find tree-lined streets with historic homes as well as newer subdivisions with single-family homes.
Students in Dover attend schools in the Dover-Eyota School District, where you’ll find a commitment to small classrooms. The elementary school’s average homeroom size is 22 students and the high school’s average class size is 23 students per class.
Dover and Eyota’s summer recreation program provides activities for kids and families, including kickball, softballs, canoe trips and crafts. Dover hosts a number of community-wide events throughout the year, including a Fourth of July celebration and an annual garage sale.
Eyota
Located just 10 miles east of Rochester, Minn., Eyota was originally a railroad town and a hub between Chatfield and Plainview, and other towns along the railroad. Today, Eyota retains its small-town community atmosphere thanks to its community garden, a weekly farmers market throughout summer and fall, and its annual Eyota Days festival. Families will enjoy Eyota’s recreational opportunities, while older adults have the opportunities to partake in the city’s nutritious senior meal program.

The trail is part of a 50-mile trail, called the Whitewater Country Loop Trail, which is under development and connects Eyota, Dover, St. Charles, Elba, Plainview, Viola, Elgin and Rochester together.
St. Charles
St. Charles, Minnesota, is located 20 miles east of Rochester and 20 miles west of Winona, both larger cities offering additional amenities and employment opportunities. St. Charles residents are proud of the town’s bustling main street, active senior center and numerous family-oriented recreational programs. Hundreds of residents volunteer in city-sponsored programs or through local churches, school, and other organizations, making the town of St. Charles an engaging and inviting place to live.

Students living in St. Charles attend either St. Charles Elementary School or St. Charles High School. In addition, the district invites families with children aged five and younger to participate in its Early Childhood Family Education program.
St. Charles has five city parks, an aquatics park and golf course. Throughout the year, you’ll find several festivals hosted in St. Charles, including the Winona County Fair, the annual Threshing Bee and Tractor Show, and Gladiolus Days.
The city is considered the Gateway to the Whitewater Valley where the Whitewater State Park abounds with recreational activities, including camping, hiking, fishing, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Watch as each season brings new life to the picturesque limestone bluffs and deep ravines.
Chatfield
Twenty miles south of Rochester, the land along Highway 52 opens up into a valley. The area, known as the Chosen Valley, is where you will find the small town of Chatfield. Chatfield homes for sale include historic Victorian homes as well as homes in newer subdivisions.
Students in Chatfield attend Chatfield public schools. The mission of the district is to equip all learners with the knowledge to thrive in an ever-changing world.

The Chatfield Historical Society, Chatfield Booster Club, Chatfield Lions Club and the Chosen Valley Community Foundation are just a few of the town’s community organizations, which all keep Chatfield an engaging place to live.
Western Days is an annual festival held every August in Chatfield. A parade, musical theater production, horse show, fireworks, flea market, car show, and the annual Western Days Stampede are a few of the events that take place during Western Days. Chatfield also holds a music in the park summer concert series it the town’s bandshell.
