Edina, Minn. - Aug. 1, 2014 – Edina Realty, a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate, announced that it would be holding a groundbreaking ceremony on Mon., August 4, 11 a.m. at the site of the future building for its new Plymouth office at 9605 Schmidt Lake Rd., Plymouth.
As business has become more high tech and mobile-reliant, Edina Realty has remodeled, upgraded and moved dozens of offices. The new Plymouth office is set to be designed and built with technology in mind, similar to some of the strategies used in the neighboring Maple Grove location, which relocated in Nov. 2013
Edina Realty CEO Greg Mason, President Barb Jandric, Regional Manager Terry McDonough and Plymouth Office Manager Jeff Shuman, as well as agents with the Plymouth office, will attend the groundbreaking ceremony. Designed by the architectural firm Mohagen Hansen, the building will be constructed by Shingobee Builders and owned by United Properties. Construction is expected to be completed by January 2015.
“Our current facility is not ideal for the way agents do business today,” Shuman said of their building at 4425 Highway 169 N. However, they couldn’t find the right existing facility to accommodate them, so they decided on new construction. Agents sell in Plymouth and surrounding areas, from Minneapolis to Delano, Minnetonka to St. Michael. According to Shuman, the new office space will feature state-of-the-art technology, including Apple TVs and fully outfitted private workspaces with computers, printers and phones.
The new facility will be built on a current vacant lot and will include 10,000 square feet of office space all on one floor. Edina Realty’s Plymouth office includes nearly 100 agents and their assistants. The new one-story building will be more conducive to face-to-face networking between agents, Shuman said. Edina Realty’s offices are also designed with the mobile agent in mind, since Edina Realty’s mobile tools enable agents to do business virtually anywhere, such as clients’ homes or neighborhood cafés
Last year was a boom year in Plymouth, Shuman said, and this year has also seen steady growth. Six new agents joined the Edina Realty Plymouth office in the last several months, joining a team of very seasoned Realtors® who have worked with Edina Realty for many years. The average sales price of a home in Plymouth rose from $286,063 in June 2011 to $347,032 in June 2014 according to the Minneapolis Area Association of REALTORS® (MAAR). However, the inventory of homes for sale is at a 10-year low; MAAR reports there are currently only a little over 300 homes for sale in Plymouth. “It’s a great time to sell a home,” Shuman said.
