Edina Realty Office Manager Receives Community Involvement Award from the Minneapolis Area Association of REALTORS®

Edina, Minn. – Dec. 23, 2011 – John Smaby, manager of Edina Realty's 50th and France Ave. office and a resident of Edina, Minn., was honored with a Community Involvement Award from the Minneapolis Area Association of REALTORS® (MAAR).

"We here at MAAR would like to thank John for his dedication and commitment through our Community Involvement Award, where we recognize MAAR members who give back to the community," said Brad Fisher, MAAR president. "It is a way for all MAAR members to be made aware of and be inspired by other members to reach out and give back to their communities."

Smaby will receive the Community Involvement Award on January 19 at MAAR's annual Installation Dinner. He will be recognized along with four other MAAR members.

A REALTOR® with Edina Realty for over 20 years, Smaby has been involved at all levels of the realtor association. He has been involved with numerous charities throughout the state of Minnesota. Smaby was regional vice president of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) in 2007.

Smaby's father Phillip started the Smaby Foundation in 1997 to help promote affordable home ownership and support educational and arts institutions. The Smaby Foundation also offers a $50,000 scholarship grant to help aspiring REALTORS® attend NAR's REALTOR® University. REALTOR University offers high-quality entrepreneurial and career-oriented online programs in real estate for REALTORS® who are interested in continuing education and life-long learning.
