Edina Realty Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Apple Valley Office

Brand new building will feature state-of-the-art technology and better accommodate the needs of today’s real estate agents

Edina, Minn. - Oct. 1, 2014Edina Realty, a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate, announced that it would be holding a groundbreaking ceremony on Mon., Oct. 6, 9:30 a.m. at the site of the future building for its new Apple Valley office at 15676 Pilot Knob Rd., Apple Valley.

The Apple Valley office is the second office building Edina Realty is having constructed this year; in August, Edina Realty held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new office building in Plymouth, Minn. “We’ve remodeled, upgraded and moved dozens of offices to accommodate the changing demands of our business,” said Greg Mason, Edina Realty CEO. “And in some cases, we came to the conclusion that building from the ground up was the best course of action.

“Like the Plymouth office, this new one-story building will better meet the needs of our agents by helping facilitate stronger connections between agents and their clients,” Mason said. The new Apple Valley office will feature state-of-the-art technology including several Apple TVs and fully outfitted private workspaces with computers, printers and phones.

Mason and Edina Realty president Barb Jandric, regional manager Marge Kane and Apple Valley office manager Bill Lippka as well as Apple Valley real estate agents will attend the groundbreaking ceremony. The building is being developed by Hempel Companies with construction by Fendler Patterson and design by DJR Architecture. Construction is expected to be completed in early 2015.

“We’re committed to staying in Apple Valley, but our current facility is just not set up for the way agents do business today,” Lippka said of the current building at 7580 W. 160th Street in Lakeville. Lippka manages an office that houses over 70 agents who help homebuyers and sellers in Apple Valley and surrounding areas, including Burnsville, Eagan, Farmington, Lakeville, Prior Lake and Savage.

The new facility will be built on what is currently a vacant lot in the Cobblestone development and will include 9,000 square feet of office space all on one floor. Edina Realty’s offices and mobile tools enable agents to do business virtually anywhere, since agents are constantly out in the neighborhoods working with home buyers and sellers.

Last year was a banner year in Apple Valley, Lippka said, and this year has also seen steady growth. The average sales price of a home rose nearly 6 percent over last year, from $215,185 to $227,908 according to the Minneapolis Area Association of REALTORS® (MAAR). The days on market to a sale has also dropped significantly, from 74 days to 64 days on average this year. “It’s not just a great time to sell a home; it’s also a relatively easy time to sell a home,” Lippka said.
